Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life, but according to Climate Care, an organisation that offsets harmful carbon dioxide emissions, the average wedding emits around 14.5 tons of CO2, and this is compared to an average person’s emissions of just over 12 tons a year. That is taking into account a multitude of things; including guests flying in from other cities or countries, your honeymoon trip, and much more. Your wedding may not be that toxic to the environment but it still has an environmental impact. If you want to go green and keep in mind sustainability of the environment, you may want to make an extra effort to have a green wedding...

Christine Rozon, owner of the popular online wedding shop, Weddingfavours.ca, says that she has seen a huge increase in requests for all things 'Green'. "We are selling a lot of seedlings as guest favours. The seedlings allows guests to plant a tree that will contribute to the environment," she tells us.

An environmentally conscious Julie (of Lally's Bouquet) recycles or reuses as many materials as possible. She donates unused flowers to places like the Hope Cancer Society. The trimmed stems go into yard waste bags and her packaging is sometimes made of biodegradable or recycled materials.
